Important and Special Announcement from Judit and the BAC Team

Published: Mon, 05/09/16

Dear Players and Parents,

Happy Mother's day to all the amazing Chess Moms out there! Without you, and your love, support and dedication towards the children and chess, this organization would not exist!
Thank you for everything you do!!

Would like to relay my special thank you for all of you who have been supportive of the recent changes at BAC.
Your feedback, and opinion is greatly appreciated, and always welcome and what makes BAC the best and help us constantly improving, bringing new ideas not only to life, but to perfection :)

On January 1st we have implemented a new rule regarding the play-up qualification to encourage players to play in their natural section, encourage players who stayed at home because of the many play-ups to come and attend tournaments more often,. While the original reason has not changed, many of you have expressed that the 100 points was a bit too tight, and hence based on your feedback we are now modifying it:
From May 1st, anyone within 200 rating points to the next section will be able to play up.
This will practically mean that anyone can play up one Class, but only one class.
This is a modification to the existing one hundred point rule, and hopefully will be well received, and will satisfy most players, coaches and parents.
While this mostly affects adults or advanced scholastic players, I wanted everyone to have a chance to learn about this rule.

Also, reminder that as a courtesy to your fellow chess players, PLEASE NOTIFY us if you can't make it to a tournament you are registered for. It is not only not nice to your fellow player to have them waiting, it also affecting their overall tournament rating, since one less played round affects the total number of round played in a tournament, and hence the rating changes are different.
We always send orientation emails to our players the day before the tournament. If you don't get these, please update your email preferences online: http://bayareachess.com/account/update/
How to notify us? Email to ask@bayareachess.com, call or more preferably text to 408-409-6596 or 919-265-7560.
