Hello everyone!
We wanted to put out one last call for players to enter this weekend's Northern California Scholastic Team Tournament, open to K-12 players from anywhere (not just Bay Area!).
Judit and I are extremely gratified that some of the best school teams in the Bay Area will be competing in this second version of our 4-player-a-side tournament (similar to the US Amateur Team format), including Monte Vista HS of Cupertino (2015 national HS champions!) and Harker School of San Jose (2016 national HS champions!).
This could be make for a very exciting final round showdown!
Other teams confirmed to compete this weekend include Jewish High School of San Francisco, Lowell HS of San Francisco, Evergreen HS of San Jose, Saratoga HS, Dublin High School, and co-organizer Fallon Middle School of Dublin. Note: this list of entrants is growing very fast (as of Wed afternoon, it's missing at least 7 other confirmed teams)
(Also, for Sunday K-12 players, Jewish HS of SF and coach Michael Fitch would love to challenge other teams to bughouse in between rounds and/or after the tournament!)
We're expecting more teams to sign up in the next few days.
If you're on the fence, please know that the pre-registration discount deadline has been extended an additional day, until Thursday night 11:59 PM.
For schools (AND clubs!) that are already sending a team, why not send an additional 4-player team or two!
And what if you are an individual player?
Or what if your school/club/friend group doesn't have quite enough players for a 4-player team? Never fear!
Bay Area Chess's TDs will be matching players and teams up to ensure everyone has enough.
Just sign up here, let Bay Area Chess know your situation in the Notes section, and show up by 9 am on either Saturday or Sunday to be matched up by the tournament director!
Super cool clocks and trophies as prizes, or exchange them for tournament entries if you already have a clock :)
