Dear Parents,

First off:
We had a major comprehensive website upgrade that will allow us to further develop the site and come up with improvements in the upcoming years.
We have been preparing this for many months, and the upgrade was made Sunday to Monday overnight to cause the least disturbance.
While the majority of things went well, it's inevitable that a few glitches are there, mainly our redirect short links are often causing error messages, and such.
If you are experiencing any problem, please try to log out and log in to the website:  https://bayareachess.com/accounts/login/?next=/mtype/
a
nd navigate the website from there. If you have any problem, or no luck fixing the error messages, please email us to ask@bayareachess.com and we will try to help as fast as we can!

Secondly: Two events this weekend:
Friday we have special simul with the amazing GM Alex Onischuk.
and Saturday we have the kids' tournaments: morning Swiss and afternoon Quads in Cupertino!

Friday evening we have a special guest: GM Alex Onischuk is giving a 20 board simultaneous exhibition at the BAC Office.
Among many of his achievements the main ones are:
- Karpov's second
- 2006 US Champion
- Head coach of the Texas Tech Chess Team
- Participated in several Chess Olympiad
- Won over 30 chess tournaments
- Chess Hall of Fame
Spots are going for only $30 each, First come First served basis, so please register at: www.bayareachess.com/my/specialevents
Location is the BAC office in San Jose: 2050 Concourse Drive #42, San Jose, CA 95131.
Don't know what's a simul? Google it or email us and we'll explain! :)

Last few tournaments of 2018! You don't want to miss the opportunity to get those trophies in for the end of year trophy count :)
This weekend we have it in Cupertino: two rooms available, so we still have a few more spots left, so register soon!!

Swiss is always in the mornings, and quads are always in the afternoon. Kids get trophies with winning record and we give medals to all others.
It is NOT an elimination game, win or loose, players are expected to play all their game
(4 gam
es in morning Swiss tournament, 3 games in the afternoon Quads tournament.)
BayAreaChess submits the tournaments to USCF for rating within a few hours, so you can check the updated rating same day or early next morning.

Important notice for Quads:

Please be sure to check in by 2:00pm. Because Quads requires exactly four players per section, we want to ensure that all who register will show up.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Please, register SOON to avoid late fee and to secure a spot for your child.
Tournaments are becoming more and more popular, and the capacity is limited at certain venues.

Should you have any question, or need help with registering, please do not hesitate to email:
ask@bayarechess.com and our team will get back to you super fast!

Many thanks,
Judit & BAC Team
