The 45^th Annual
 CalChess Scholastic States Championship

 

 

 

Dear Good People,

 

You are receiving this concise email to make sure that we inform everyone possibly interested in 2020 CalChess Super States. Forgive me and ignore this email if you are not interested in this event.

 

1. We are postponing Super States until May 30-31 based on the following decision criteria:
   1. The safety of everyone in the high-risk group.
   2. The State Championship title should not be decided based on health-risk conditions.
2. We will reassess the plan on April 30 if COVID-19 still remains a threat.
3. I empathize with hundreds of players who wanted to play this weekend because that’s what I wanted as well.
4. Based on the above reasoning I made an executive decision to postpone the tournament to the weekend of May 30-31, 2020 (after consultation with several coaches along with BayAreaChess and CalChess leaders).
5. We will move existing registrations automatically and credit any late/cancel fees in a fair way.
