Dear Chess Players, Parents and Coaches,
BayAreaChess is participating in an exciting graduate course project of University of the Pacific:
We will have two grad student hosting us a so called Futuring Session.
I'm looking for 10-20 parent, coach, or high-school student, who can and willing to come to the office at 4:30pm on Friday for a 2 hour session.
The event will involve discussion, brainstorming and short group-project that evolves around the present and future of chess community.
Since this involved group activities, it's important to show up on time, and stay for the 2 hour duration.
BayAreaChess will be offering a free tournament entry (1-day regular or scholastic) for all participating parties.
We will also be providing pizza for the participants :)
To trigger your interest, here are the expected outcomes the two graduate students phrased for me:
- list of forces acting now on afterschool programs, Bay Area Chess, and the chess tournament industry
- list of likely forces acting on afterschool programs, Bay Area Chess, and the chess tournament industry in 10 years
- implications of these forcesthings to do now to get ready for the future
