  • Challenger Berryessa (1st K-6 Rookie)
  • Pinewood Middle Campus (2nd K-6 Rookie)
  • Oster Elementary (3rd K-6 Rookie)

Bay Area Chess is very honored to have been the organizer of the 2017 U.S. Amateur Team West, the 2017 CalChess Super State Championship, the 2017 Susan Polgar Foundation National Open for Boys and Girls and many other regular and scholastic events almost every weekend throughout the year. We always strive to deliver the very best player experience we can, so please feel free to give us any feedback you think may make our tournaments an even better experience for all our players.

Here are some of the upcoming tournaments that would be good for your child:

Bay Area Chess recently had tables at the 2017 Scout O' Rama at San Jose History Park that was heavily attended throughout the day. This event, which was for the Boys and Girl Scouts, brought roughly 5000 people together for a fun filled Saturday afternoon. What was very nice to see was the number of students from our enrichment programs in attendance and stopping by to take in some games.

Bay Area Chess also engages in many special events in schools. We recently were asked to provide a Chess Knight at Stocklmeir Elementary. We hosted free recreational games of chess and a tandem simul by GM Zviad Izoria and IM Faik Aleskerov. We also had some of our BAC enrichment coaches on hand to facilitate games, provide instruction and answer questions regarding chess and our programs.

BAC also participated in STEM Night at St. Frances Cabrini, which coincided with their annual Pasta Feed. Our coaches were on hand to answer questions regarding the chess program and facilitate games outdoors which included a large outdoor chess set!

Bay Area Chess will be running summer camps every week throughout the summer at various locations. We will be running regular camps for players of all skill levels, combining several fun activities into a fun filled chess camp experience. We will also have our master camps for players with a USCF rating over 800. Please check on the class page for each particular week to see whose coaching and get other class information. The master camp the week of July 17-21 with GM Chirila and IM Kavutskiy is for players rated over 1500, and we expect many participants to be well over 1800. If this camp is appropriate for your child's skill level, register early as space is limited. GM Chirila, GM Naroditsky, GM Izoria, GM Sevillano, IM Kavutskiy and IM Aleskerov will be among the summer camp coaches. Also, 2017 K-9 National Champion FM Rayan Taghizadeh and NM Allan Beillin will be among our student coaches. Also coaching in the summer are our superstar enrichment coaches James Bethany, Matt LeForce, Theo Biyiasas, Jasmine Kaur and many others.
