Dear Chess Players, Parents and Coaches,
I'd like to personally invite you to the 2017 CalChess Grade Level Championship that will be happening first weekend of December.
For Kindergarten through Grade 3, it's a 1 day event, on Sunday. For Grade 4 and up, it's a 2-day event, with 3 rounds on both Saturday and Sunday!
on Saturday we also have two, non-state championship, side-sections for those under500 and under800 rated players, who would like to play in a 1-day tournament.
Venue: We are back to Santa Clara Convention Center! After a few years trying out two new venues, we are back where most of you rooted for! Many thanks for giving me feedback, what you liked and disliked about previous venues! Me, and all of BAC's staff values open communications, honest feedback, and in return we hope you see our actions to continuously improve things.
We are growing and we need helping hands: with each year we have more and more players, and we absolutely love it! We are trying out very best to serve every one of you to the best of our ability, and to provide a safe and fair environment for a fun and exciting competition. For that we need volunteers! Please sign up for any 5-8 hour shift and you can earn free entry for your child with your help! Please, reach out to

Scholarships: thanks to a few individuals and companies, we are happy to announce that we have around $2000 sponsorship that was dedicated towards scholarships. BayAreaChess's mission is to Transform Live Through Chess, and we never ever want financial reasons to be the reason for not trying out tournaments. So if you or you know anyone who is in need for a scholarship, please don't hesitate to email us at a
secure and private email: contact@bayareachess.com. We will be awarding 50-100% scholarships for those on free or reduced lunch, depending on individual circumstances.
Coaches: as usual, if you help us by organizing and bringing your team, you are eligible for a $5 discount per every player. Please, reach out to us at ask@bayareachess.com to get more information on how to take advantage of this discount. There are limited number of team rooms available at the convention center to rent, should you need one, please reach out to us at any of the emails.
