Dear Players,
I hope you care, value and respect history and traditions as much as I do. So I hope to see you at one of our oldest tournament that has been going on for 43 years now!
Originally started in Berkeley, moved locations and brought back to UC Berkeley campus 3 years ago. This year it'll be in the Pauley room.
Even though the rental charges have been increasing, we are finding ways to keep the entry fee under $100, which hopefully are recognized and appreciated by the community!
Two important changes this year:
1) The tournament is yet again a 6 round tournament! Based on feedback, those who said it's more important for them to be a 6 round tournament than to fit the work schedules in :)
Will be very interested to see if this is true :)
2) In accordance of our other long weekend tournaments, we are making Section A FIDE rated as well, so that our rising players have a chance to get established FIDE rating a bit sooner.
Even if you don't see the value in this, hopefully you have trust and believe us that this will come very handy in the future years, specially if you travel around the world and interested in playing at tournaments.
Registration late fee is expected to be turned on around Tuesday or Wednesday, maximum capacity is 200.
So please register soon to avoid additional fees.
